Migraines
Throbbing pain, often on one side, sometimes with sensitivity to light or sound or an aura beforehand. Underneath it there's often a neck or jaw tightness that's easy to overlook.
What it is
Migraines have complex causes. Trigger points in the neck, scalp, and jaw muscles may contribute, but they're one factor, not the whole story. For some people, tension in these muscles seems to feed the pattern.
What makes it worse
Your known triggers, neck tension, jaw clenching, ongoing stress, and disrupted sleep can all play a part. The muscle tension often flares during stressful weeks with poor sleep.
How PNMT helps
Your therapist looks for muscles that contribute to your migraines and treats them precisely, working on muscles like the suboccipitals, cervical group, and temporalis, guided by your feedback. This work runs alongside your existing migraine care and doesn't replace it. If the pattern isn't mainly muscular, your therapist will say so and coordinate with your care or refer you on.
What to expect & how long
The first visits help show whether muscle tension plays a meaningful part in your migraines. Only then is it clear how many more visits would help. If the work isn't making a difference, your therapist will tell you instead of keeping you booked.
What clients say
Sarah helped me greatly with tightness in my jaw, head, and neck resulting in tension headaches and migraines. I barely get headaches now with her treatment. I can't thank her enough!
Al and Sarah have returned to me my neck, shoulder, and back range of motion, relieved me of migraines, and gotten me to a place where I have begun exercising again. I had no idea some of the problem areas I had were simply muscle issues. I thought for sure I had chronic vertebrae and bone issues. Nope! Feel so much younger and stronger and freer!
I went to SomaVida regularly for nearly two years for relief from migraines. Sarah helped with my pain and was great to work with. She was always professional, accommodating and friendly. I referred friends and family to her and would still be seeing her if I lived in Chicago.
